All about Ingredients!

The main ingredients I use in most of our soaps are Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, RSPO Palm Oil, Beef Tallow, Lard, Shea Butter, and Castor Oil. There is a reason why we pick these particular ingredients for our soaps. Here is a breakdown on the benefits of each ingredient!

Olive Oil - Olive oil in soap offers several benefits, including moisturizing, softening, and protecting the skin. It's rich in antioxidants, vitamins A and E, and oleic acid, contributing to healthier, more radiant skin. Olive oil also helps create a gentle, long-lasting soap that's suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive skin.

Coconut Oil - Coconut oil offers several benefits when used in soap, including creating a hard bar, rich lather, and moisturizing the skin. It also boasts natural antibacterial and antifungal properties, which can help keep skin clean and healthy.

RSPO Palm Oil – RSPO stands for the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, a non-profit initiative that aims to promote sustainable palm oil production. This is the only type of palm oil we will use in soaps. If it isn’t RSPO certified, we won’t buy it. Palm oil has great cleansing properties, making it effective at removing dirt, oils, and impurities from the skin. It also creates a creamy and stable lather in soap, making the soap rich and foamy!

Beef Tallow - Beef tallow offers several benefits in soapmaking, primarily due to its unique moisturizing properties, rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and its gentle, soothing effects. It also contributes to a creamy, luxurious lather and a long-lasting soap bar. It contains fatty acids and vitamins that can hydrate and protect the skin barrier, offering a natural alternative to conventional moisturizers.

Lard - Lard is high in vitamins and minerals beneficial for the skin. It's particularly rich in Vitamin D and has a similar lipid profile to human skin, which makes it incredibly moisturizing and nourishing. One of the standout qualities of lard-based soaps is their creamy, stable lather. Lard provides a luxurious feel that is often hard to achieve with solely plant-based oils.

Shea Butter - Shea butter is rich in fatty acids that help to hydrate and soften the skin, making it ideal for those with dry or sensitive skin. Shea butter also contains cinnamic acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe irritated skin and reduce redness and swelling

Castor Oil - Castor oil creates a stable and dense lather in cold process soap, known for its creamy texture and long-lasting bubbles. The fatty acids in castor oil, including ricinoleic acid, help to condition and nourish the skin, leaving it feeling smoother and more hydrated.

We also only use fragrances that are PHTHALATE-FREE. Some phthalates are considered endocrine disruptors, meaning they can interfere with the body's hormone system, potentially leading to a range of health issues. These can include:
•    Reproductive problems (e.g., abnormal development, infertility, changes in           puberty).
•    Developmental issues (e.g., brain development, learning difficulties).
•    Increased risk of obesity, diabetes, and other metabolic disorders.
•    Other health problems like asthma, neurological and behavioral issues, and even some cancers.
